Fashion marketing is the practice of advertising management for fashion products to reach potential customers and invites them to wear. Like any other kind of marketing, we have to research the customer segment, age, behavior, preferences of different audiences and find creative ways to present products in a way that resonates enough to inspire customers to buy.
Fashion marketing is unique because the fashion industry is a fast pace industry. While you might be able to run the similar marketing campaigns and strategy for many years in other industries, the fashion industry moves in very brief cycles, so fashion marketers need to keep up with the latest trends and continually find creative ways to advertise their newest products. Fashion marketers have to be creative and in tune with their target customers while also being focused on the business side of fashion with the goal of driving sales and profits. If done well, fashion marketing balances the creative side of fashion with the needs and desires of target customers and the need to get a profit goal. Although a fashion marketer is not the same as a fashion designer, fashion marketers sometimes influence the products and designs of a fashion brand as well. A fashion marketer understands fashion trends and how it could impact their business. For example in addressing the questions like What styles are selling best? or Who’s the Brand Ambassador that we’re going to engage? Furthermore, fashion marketing isn’t only about promoting the work of fashion designers, but also influence design based on business performance and market trends.
As fashion is a fast pace industry, a fashion marketing manager should be handled by someone who can do many things at the same time. They have to be able to perform market research, media planning, branding, product display, creative, and photography that related to fashion content.
