Who doesn’t want to be their best self? The new year is the perfect time to think about what direction you want to move in and how you can improve yourself. Thanks to 2018 beginning on a Monday, you will have the freshest beginning you can imagine: a new week, a new month, and a new year. If you’re still thinking about what kind of resolution is right for you, take a look at our suggestions.
Drink More Water
This one seems totally obvious, but it does take a real effort to get the recommended amount (eight 8-ounce glasses) of water in a day. Try setting reminders in your phone throughout the day to keep on track so you don’t end up chugging all 8 in the evening.
Wear Sunblock Everyday
Eighty percent of wrinkles are caused by sun damage, so even if you aren’t headed for the beach, make an effort to work sunscreen into your daily skincare routine. Your future self and your skin will thank you in the years to come!
Wash Your Makeup Brushes
It’s Saturday night and you’re rushing to get ready before you head out for the evening. You quickly touch-up your smoky eye and rush out the door. While most are guilty of taking the fast and easy route to a makeup routine, all skin care efforts go to waste when we neglect to properly clean our products. Leaving makeup on brushes for extended time periods can lead to skin irritation, bacteria buildup (yuck!), and damaged brushes. Make sure your beauty routine starts and ends with a clean brush by washing them with warm water and a mild soap or brush cleaner.
Meditation App Stressing Less
It’s easy to get caught up in a busy day and let stress take over. With meditation apps that you can download to your smartphone, a midday relax session is as easy as online shopping. By dedicating even just five minutes to mindful meditation during a busy day, you can reduce stress and anxiety while increasing productivity. And unlike clicking “add to cart,” it is quick, easy, and won’t cost you!
Get More Sleep
Sleeping more will not only help you to feel refreshed and diminish those stubborn under-eye circles, but can also lessen the chances of overall health problems and increase happiness. Doctors recommend that we get at least seven hours of sleep each night, which isn’t always easy to add to a busy calendar. Try putting your phone down and unplugging for the evening fifteen minutes earlier than normal to get into the habit.
Whatever resolutions you choose to focus on this year, staying consistent and on track are key. Cheers to a new year and becoming the best versions of ourselves!
