Our Sunday night was spent on the couch, a bowl of popcorn on our laps, and our televisions tuned to the red carpet coverage of the 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. We saw so many looks we absolutely adored on our beloved ladies and gents of the silver screen, but we’ve narrowed it down to our top three trends.
The men switched up the usual black tux fare with brown suits, gray suits, and blue suits. Jon Hamm wowed us in his midnight blue Armani suit that complemented his partner, Jennifer Westfeldt’s cobalt dress. Breaking Bad star (and winner!) Aaron Paul showed us that brown is acceptable at a black tie affair in Prada while fellow winner Jon Cryer shook things up in charcoal gray. Honorable mention goes out to Tracy Morgan for his blinged out suit jacket!
Yellow was a big trend on the red carpet this year, which was surprising since it is a color often advised against because it clashes with the carpet. Julie Bowen, Leslie Mann, and Julianne Moore proved everyone wrong by looking fabulous in their Monique Llhuillier, Naeem Khan, and Raf Simons for Christian Dior dresses respectively.
Metallic dresses are often a popular on the red carpet, but this year knocked past looks out of the park! Our two winners in metallic were Lucy Liu in Versace and funny girl Jane Krakowski in Kaufmanfranco.
